STARTTS MESSAGE IN RELATION TO THE BONDI BEACH ATTACK
At STARTTS, we are heartbroken and horrified by the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach.
We are devastated for the families who have lost loved ones, those who were injured, and the Australian Jewish community. To see such violence target a community gathering to celebrate Hanukkah, a festival of light, is deeply shocking.
STARTTS unequivocally condemns this act of antisemitism and terror. There is no place for antisemitism, or any form of racism or religious hatred, in our society. No one should be made to feel unsafe simply because of who they are or their faith. We stand in solidarity with the Australian Jewish community at this time.
Violence like this strikes at our sense of safety. For many in our community, particularly those who have sought refuge in Australia from conflict, events such as this can be deeply distressing. It can bring back the fear and memories of violence that so many have worked hard to heal from.
Please know that you do not have to carry this weight alone.
If you are finding things difficult right now, or if this news has brought up painful feelings for you or someone you know, we are here to listen. Our Witness to War Hotline (1800 845 198) is open for anyone who needs a confidential space to talk.
In moments like this, we must stand together against hate and look out for one another.
